VELOCACHE is a game that is played with:
There are two basic parts of VELOCACHE:
HIDING A CACHE:
Get some cool stuff together. Make sure that it is comprised of items that you might like to find. Encapsulate these treasures in a container of some sort that makes sense for the weather. It is best if the velocacher that finds your hide can use the container again if they chose to. Place on the outside of the cache a message stating that this is a velocache, the website url, and a nice note telling non-players not to mess with it if it is accidentally found.
Get on your bike and ride! Hide the cache! Be careful. Don’t be stupid. Have fun.
FINDING A CACHE:
Study the site and figure out where a cache is hidden. Get on your bicycle and go find it!
MOBILE POSTING:
Make sure that your account settings have been properly configured for this. E-mail from your phone is pretty straight forward but sms (texting) utilizes a very specific number from your phone. This aspect is found in your account settings.
-To post a NEW CACHE via e-mail send it to: cache@velocache.net with the pictures attached.
-To post a NEW CACHE via sms (text) send it to: cache@velocache.net with the picture(s) attached. Most sms services will only allow one photo so make sure that you post the rest later. DO NOT send multiple texts with different images attached. Send one and get back to your computer to put the rest up.
Posting a FOUND CACHE via mobile device or cell phone needs a slightly different address. Send it to: found@velocache.net
Here is the extra step for a find: the first line of the body (that is the main part of the e-mail, not the subject) must look like this example: cache: ##. So that's the word 'cache' immediately followed by a colon, then the number of the cache, (## in this example). The rest of the message body must start on a new line.
-To post a FOUND CACHE via sms (text) is the same as posting from e-mail except there are no new lines in texting. After the cache number you must insert a space before adding more text to the message. Remember to attach your picture and if you can only send one that is ok. Put the rest up later.
